Origins of Colomí

HISTORY OF THE GUESTHOUSE
HISTORY

Santa Coloma de Queralt
1947

In 1947, Josep Camps and Pepita Franquesa opened Hostal Colomí, a small guesthouse in the heart of Santa Coloma de Queralt.

Little by little, the guesthouse built up a good reputation, thanks to the efforts of their daughters, Rosita and Nati Camps. This made it necessary to change location three times in order to offer a better service. In 1994, Hostal Colomí moved to its present location next to the Castle in Santa Coloma de Queralt.

More than 70 years after it first opened, the small guesthouse has become a restaurant that places the highest value on the quality of its ingredients. We focus on seasonal produce and carefully select our suppliers, most of whom are based in the immediate area. We source local products, ranging from eggs, vegetables, meat and pulses to wild mushrooms, truffles and spices such as saffron. We develop a special relationship with the ingredients we use, and such is their importance to us in the kitchen, they practically form part of our team!

Our aim is to satisfy our customers and for them to become our friends; we want them to experience a cuisine steeped in flavours, memories, our region, our town and what we might call a special way of doing things.

Today, Rosita and Nati, together with Rosita’s son Pep, are the driving force behind the Hostal, and they are aided and abetted by our valuable team of staff, who all form part of our family: the Hostal Colomí family.

Together, we will continue in our quest to offer a cuisine based on tradition and ingredients of the highest quality, with a sprinkling of signature dishes.

We look forward to your visit!
